Privacy Notice
How FTSZA handles personal information in connection with this website and enquiries sent to us.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
FTSZA is responsible for personal information processed through this website and through enquiries sent to hello@ftsza.com. FTSZA is an independent applied sports research and technology organisation based in South Africa.
For privacy questions, requests or concerns, email hello@ftsza.com with the subject line “Privacy request”.
2. Information we may process
- Enquiry information: your name, role, organisation, email address and the information you voluntarily include when you contact us.
- Technical information: limited device, browser, IP-address and security-log information generated when you visit the website. Our hosting and security providers may use this information to operate the site, prevent abuse and maintain security.
- Briefing information: if the FTSZA Briefing opens in future, we will update this notice before collecting email addresses or sending updates.
3. Why we use information
We use information to respond to enquiries, consider possible research conversations or partnerships, protect the website, meet legal obligations and maintain appropriate records. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising profiles.
Where POPIA applies, we process information with consent where that is appropriate, to take steps requested by you, to meet legal obligations, or for FTSZA’s legitimate interests in operating securely and responding to relevant enquiries. If GDPR applies to a particular person, the equivalent lawful bases may apply.
4. Research participation and children’s information
This website is not a research-participation platform. A message sent through email does not enrol anyone in a study. Please do not send children’s names, identity numbers, health information or other sensitive personal information through an initial enquiry. FTSZA will discuss appropriate permissions, notices and safeguards before any research activity involving personal information begins.
5. Service providers and international processing
We use website hosting, security and email-service providers to operate the site and respond to enquiries. These providers may process information on FTSZA’s instructions and may operate outside South Africa. Where information is transferred internationally, FTSZA will use appropriate contractual, technical or organisational safeguards for the nature of the information and the service involved.
6. Cookies and similar technology
The current website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting and security infrastructure may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology to help secure the site and prevent malicious traffic. We will update this notice before introducing optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking.
7. Retention and security
We keep enquiry information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, evaluate a potential relationship and maintain necessary records. We aim to review and delete or anonymise ordinary enquiries after 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law or needed for an ongoing relationship, dispute or security matter.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If a security compromise creates a risk to personal information, FTSZA will take the steps required by applicable law to investigate, contain and notify affected people and regulators.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to confirm whether we hold your personal information, request access, correction or deletion, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or raise a concern about how we use your information. We will respond through hello@ftsza.com.
People in South Africa may also complain to the Information Regulator. If GDPR applies, people may have additional rights, including the right to complain to their local supervisory authority.
9. Direct email updates
FTSZA will not add someone to the FTSZA Briefing merely because they send an enquiry. Before the Briefing opens, we will provide a separate, clear opt-in, identify the sender and email purpose, record consent, and include an easy unsubscribe method in every update.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as FTSZA’s activities, services or legal obligations develop. The “Last updated” date will show when the notice was most recently revised.
